Hello and welcome to a new quick start guide on how to best use
Movicon.NExTâ„¢.
In this technote, we will show you how to import and export Movicon.NExTâ„¢ project tags.
In order to do this, we will use a tag element to perform these operations.
Procedure
Movicon.NExT allows you to use import and export CSV files that
have been appropriately formatted to manage tags.
Exporting tags from a project
We shall show you how to export tags from a project.
To make this easier, create a BakTags folder on your PC's C disk. Then
create a tags.csv file in this folder.
Open Movicon.NExT in editing mode and load a project, such as the DemoMoviconNExT
project. This project is opened from the Editor's startup page:
Click on Examples in
the Support Instruments section.
Search
for the DemoMoviconNExT folder and double-click to open it.
Select
the DemoMoviconNExT.UFProject file and click the open button.
At this point, you should have the project's tree
populated with its resources in the Project Explorer window open.
We can now export project tags:
Click Tools on the
editor's toolbar.
Click
Import-Export Tags option from the menu.
Click
on the three dots in the window that opens to open the operating
system's browser window and select the tags.csv file kept in the
previously created folder.
Click
Open.
Check
that Export is the action selected.
Set
the comma symbol as the separator.
Click
the OK button to confirm the operations.
Confirm
by clicking on Yes in the popup that appears immediately after
the previous operation to overwrite the file.
Click
OK in the next two popups to confirm.
Once this procedure has terminated, you will have exported the project's
tags successfully. Now open the tags.csv file with a text editor or
with Microsoft Excel, then manage and edit the tags as needed.
Tag Import
Now we shall import the tags we have just exported in a new project.
After having created an empty Movicon.NExT project and opened it in
development mode:
Click Tools on the
editor's top toolbar.
Click
the Import-Export Tags option on the menu that opens.
Click
on the three dots in the window that opens to open another the
operating system's browser window and select the tags.csv file
kept in the previously created folder.
Click
Open.
Check
that Import is the action selected.
Set
the comma symbol as the separator.
Click
the OK button to confirm the operations.
If no errors occur while importing the tags, you will see them in
the tag list contained in the I/O Data Server.
If errors occur instead, the software will notify you of their presence and ask if you want to open the System Log to view and understand what went wrong.
