Hello and welcome to a new guide on how to best use Movicon.NExT™.
In this technote we will use an example to show you how to geo-localize an object on a map.
Geo-localization is a screen option. Therefore, to geo-localize
an object, you will need to insert it on a screen and then use the
screen’s GeoScada property section to enter its coordinates and zoom
levels to view it on the map.
This guide provides an example to give you a clearer understanding
of how this is done.
After launching the Movicon.NExT software into design mode, and created, or loaded a project, configure the maps initial coordinates by entering them in the project’s Startup Latitude Pos. and Starup Longitude Pos. settings. These settings can be reached by clicking the name of the project on the project tree and activating the Properties Window.
Once you have configured the startup coordinates, continue by creating the main screen in the following way:
Once the screen has been created, you can then change the project's properties by inserting the screen as the project's Main screen which will show when the project starts up. To do this:
Once you have finished configuring the project startup page, click on the Save All icon located on the toolbar at the top to save the project.
Double-check that the Main screen is open and then click on the
Symbol Library tab next to the Properties window in the editor to
open the Toolbox Library offered by Movicon.NExT.
Go to the Buttons > Standard folder and drag a Standard Metro Style
button onto the screen.
Once placed on screen, select the button and open its Properties Window.
Enter the Map string in its Text property field.
Double-check that the button is still selected, open the Commands tab
at the bottom of the editor. Select the Open Map command to add it
to the Commands List associated to the object and keep the command’s
default settings as they are.
Next, we shall create a second screen:
Double-check that the ObjMap screen is open, click on the Symbol
Library on the editor’s right, next to the Properties Window, to open
Symbol Library offered by Movicon.NExT.
Go to the Buildings2 folder and select and drag the CoolingTower object
onto the screen and resize so that it fits in the screen entirely.
Select the ObjMap screen from the list of screens shown on the project
tree and open its Properties Window to set its Background Color to
Transparent by selecting the color from the combobox offered by the
software.
Go to the GeoScada section and click on the three dotted button to
expand its properties. Once expanded, enter the object’s coordinates
in the Screen Latitude Coordinate and Screen Longitude Coordinate
property fields.
Click on the Save All icon located on the toolbar at the top of Movicon.NExT editor to save the project.
Test everything you have just created by clicking the Start Runtime
icon to launch the project into runtime.
Clicking on the Map button at runtime should open the map with the
ObjMap screen localized at coordinates defined in its properties.
