Users and Passwords management

The Users and Passwords management is used in projects to manage access to protected functions. In addition to passwords, the project Users can also be managed with SMS messages, Voice and Fax messages.

Plants run and managed with a supervision project often require safety and protection when performing specific operations by granting access to the system’s functionalities only after the operator has been authenticated and given permission to do so.

Plants can be operated in complete safety by using the Users and Passwords management.

The Users and Passwords management deployed in a supervision project allows secure access to the supervisory system by means of declaring a list of the users who have been enabled and assigned with exclusive passwords and access levels  to operate the system. This type of management includes access privileges (hierarchical levels and areas) which are assigned to individual users or groups to determine the extent of their control in the plant.

• 1024 hierarchical levels and 16 area levels are provided.

• Log In will not be requested for objects set the default value (level 0).

The project should be configured to request User Log In for each command and functionality so that they can be protected from unauthorized access. The hierarchical level and area of the command to be executed must be declared in the properties of "critical" objects to which it belongs to.

The execution of commands for such critical objects will therefore be subject to User Log In to verify whether the user has the sufficient access privileges to use the commands.

Ultimately, any function of the supervisory system  can be protected by prior verification of the user's level and password settings as described in this chapter.
